Making The Switch To A Facebook Business Account

Updated: Mar 3

Are you a business owner who thought it would be a good idea to switch your Facebook page from a Personal Account to a Business Account? If you are, you're not alone. Many businesses make this switch because Facebook makes it look so enticing and it can be if utilized properly. But there are some sad truths one has to deal with immediately following the switch to a Facebook Business Account that I've had to inform multiple business owners about like when their Facebook reach decreased all of a sudden.

Once you choose to have a Facebook Business Account, Facebook will immediately restrict the amount of reach your posts receive. They do this because in their system (now), you're in it to make money and advertise.

On the bright side, you can now pay to run optimizable ad campaigns on Facebook/Instagram and "boost" your day-to-day social posts if desired. I feel boosting posts does offer great engagement, great reach opportunities, and can be used as an effective page growth strategy when targeted correctly. Building out full campaigns in Facebook Ads Manager (i.e. taking boosted posts to the next level) offers greater targeting/optimizing capabilities than boosting a post. These of course take extra time to build out but can also be great for driving up sales and website traffic.

To get your feet wet in paid advertising, it would be beneficial to boost a couple of posts that you feel are very good and striking for $5-$10 to start and feel free to add a call-to-action to some of these if you feel it's fitting. See the impact they make and go from there.
